After having a rotator cuff repair balloon spacer surgery fail just weeks after the surgery, I was in despair. Months went by with no solution offered to regain the strength and mobility that I had lost in my arm.. Then I was offered the name of Dr. Anthony Romeo who could help me. Dr. Romeo's approach was to explain in depth the full extent of the damage to my rotator cuff/ shoulder and how it got to that point. He relieved my fear of being handicapped by offering the right approach of a reverse shoulder replacement, including how it would be done in detail. Now less than 1 month post surgery I am already able to lift my arm higher than I was able to in 9 months.

Dr. Romeo is the best orthopedic doctor in the country! He does over 200 shoulder surgery’s a year! He’s kind, thoughtful, and thoroughly explains everything. Two years ago, I had surgery in Madison, WI, during which my long thoracic nerve was unfortunately damaged, leaving me with serratus anterior paralysis. A year later, I underwent a nerve graft in hopes of reinnervating the muscle, but sadly, it wasn’t successful. Because this is such a rare injury, I was left living with daily chronic pain with very limited range of motion, that was starting to cause several secondary issues. I couldn’t find anyone locally who could perform the surgery I needed to restore function in my arm and reduce-if not eliminate-my pain.

After doing a lot of research, I found Dr. Romeo-and it was truly the best decision I could have made. From the very beginning, the entire process was made as smooth and manageable as possible, especially considering how far I live from his office. His staff was always available when I needed support, and Claudia and Liz were incredibly kind and compassionate. It meant so much to feel genuinely cared for-not just as a patient, but as a person.

Dr. Romeo took the time to thoroughly educate me about the procedure I needed-a pectoralis major tendon transfer—and made sure I felt informed and confident every step of the way. I had the surgery just last week, and I’m already healing very well.

As a mom of six, living without the use of my arm for the past two years has been incredibly challenging—not just for me, but for my children as well. Dr. Romeo didn’t just help restore my physical function-he’s given me my life back! More importantly, he’s given my kids the opportunity for a future filled with better, more active memories together.
